The
core workload of the Engineering Services Team is connected to the
built environment and encompasses a wide range of activities. They
include the management of major capital schemes, design and construction
services and the implementation of Environmental Improvement schemes.
Examples include the road and environmental improvements on the
Slyfield Industrial Estate to the award winning project environmental
improvements at Stoke Fields.
There
is also a substantial workload of minor works and maintenance for
other Council Departments. The service maintains the Council�s roads
and footpaths under the 1994 New Roads and Streetworks Act responsibility.
Services are provided to the Housing Department for disabled accesses
and resident parking schemes. Services are also provided to the
Leisure Department where recent maintenance works at Spectrum such
as the earth slip and minor works such as the access ramp for the
ice machine has been undertaken. Services to the Clerk and Solicitor
range from minor repairs to Council infrastructure to the provision
of a computerised mapping and a land surveying service. The section
is used extensively in the resolution of boundary disputes for them.
The Engineering Services Team also has the responsibility for the
installation and maintenance of the Borough wide CCTV system.
