Burpham Village Hall is a well used venue with many different activities taking place, but with no parking available on site, the narrow residential streets in the area were becoming clogged with parked cars. Following discussions between Engineering Services Officers, Cllr Allan and Trustees of Burpham Village Hall a proposal was for a village hall car park was designed and subsequently supervised by Engineering Services. The finance for this scheme was secured by Cllr Tim Allan from a planning condition placed on the Burpham Sainsburys for improvements to the local area

As shown below, construction started in August 2001 and was completed on time and within the construction budget by October 2001.

New entrance being constructed
There was no on-site parking provision, and the works allowed for twelve parking bays within the grounds of the Village Hall, including two disabled bays, cycle parking and a improved disabled access to the village hall. By careful budgeting we were able to use more aesthetic block paving as opposed to a tarmac surface.

The use of block paving allowed us to use white blocks to show the outline of parking bays which avoids the future cost and inconvenience of reapplying worn out white lines as shown below.

In addition to providing additional parking facilities, the footpath widths were increased and an improved disabled access was provided to the village hall.
