The Guildford Youth Council was established in 1996 as a joint initiative by Guildford Borough Council, the YMCA and SYAES (Surrey Youth Services). The Youth Council aims to provide a forum for young people to talk about issues that affect them and take positive action to implement and improve facilities for all young people in the Borough. Members of the Youth Council are aged between 15 and 18 years and where possible, are democratically elected from within their school/youth organisation. Over the past four years the Youth Council has made a significant and positive contribution to many initiatives within the Borough and intends to continue to do so.
