Notes

Wildlife Watch groups are set up locally in schools or in the community to help children discover their local environment through taking a close look at the wildlife around them and helping to care for habitats (e.g. ponds in school grounds) and celebrating wildlife through arts and crafts. Wildlife Watch clubs are run by volunteers (a mix of parents and teachers works well) who register with our UK office to receive a whole range oif FREE benefits (leader's resource pack, magazines for leaders and children, posters, special project packs, award schemes) and local support (a newsletter, tarining etc) from Surrey Wildlife Trust's full-time Environmental Clubs Officer. For instance, we are currently running a pilot scheme for Surrey Training and Enterprise Council, to give Environmental Club activity training to Supervisors of After School Care clubs.

Watch Education Scheme - schools not running a Wildlife Watch Club can still subscribe to Wildlife Watch nationally to receive magazines and activity packs.

Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of The Wildlife Trusts. It creates a variety of opportunities for young people to engage in wildlife and environmental issues. It produces magazines and posters for members (mostly aged 6-14) and supports a UK wide network of Wildlife Watch groups. These are run by volunteers and help young people understand and appreciate more about their envionment and the wildlife they share it with through activities, games, investigations and projects. Many Watch groups are run at schools as study support or after shool initiatives.
