CSE promotes energy efficiency, alleviates fuel poverty and supports sustainable energy generation and policy. Our work involves training, advice, community involvement, research and education.

CSE has developed and run a number of national energy education projects including : Energy Matters; Bright Sparks, and the Energy Lab. Energy Matters is a ready-to-run project which complements the Curriculum, ESD, PHSE and Citizenship. Based around a home energy survey, Energy Matters is written for Key Stages 2 & 3, it requires minimal preparation time and is available free to all schools in Guildford.

Energy Matters :

  • allows pupils to undertake research, analyse data, and turn this into action;
  • offers opportunities to develop a strong home/school link;
  • generates publicity for your school;
  • helps reduce energy consumption, protecting the environment and lowering household fuel bills.

Energy Matters is co-ordinated locally. For information on the Guildford programme please contact Dave Harnet, Environmental Co-ordinator, Guildford Borough Council, 01483 444540.
