Waverley Borough Council and Guildford Borough Council are acting jointly to invite applications from competent and suitably qualified consultants who wish to tender to provide specialist ground contamination advice. The aim of the tender is to engage a single specialist consultancy to provide a separate and distinct advisory service to each Council to aid in the delivery of their statutory duties under Section 78 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (as amended) and the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. 

The Services that may be called upon are:

·        Provision of a specialist consultancy to both Councils to assist with their duties.

·        To undertake document reviews and desk studies.

·        To undertake intrusive ground investigations where required.

·        To provide advice to the Councils in identifying risks and assessing and designing appropriate remediation strategies where necessary.

·        To review the proposals received to assess and remediate sites by site owners, developers or others.

·        To liase with these Councils and other statutory / non-statutory bodies where necessary.

·        To carry out monitoring and report results where required.

The Councils do not undertake to invite all or any applicants to tender.
