Guildford in Bloom is now in its 22nd year and was set up to encourage community participation in enhancing the attractiveness of Guildford for the benefit of residents, visitors and the local economy.

The managing body, the Guildford in Bloom Committee was set up in 1995 to increase the input of Borough Councillors, and local residents. This committee is made up of the local community and the members have proven to be of great importance to the ongoing development of the competition. Their ideas, suggestions and involvement have lead to a cohesive borough wide approach to the many In Bloom issues. They have actively promoted the introduction of sponsored hanging baskets and troughs and each year they have helped to attract more sponsors to support the campaign.
Guildford in Bloom is now securely established and has a borough wide corporate approach and a recognisable campaign slogan. The locally designed Guildford in Bloom headed paperwork, with the slogan: "Greening the Borough" and our Guildford in Bloom logo have contributed to the promotion and popularity of Guildford in Bloom. Guildford Borough Council's Parks and Countryside Service provides the background support and professional advise to the Committee.
