Greening the Borough Grants

Guildford Borough has awarded 17 grants to schools and 4 grants to community projects this year.  This huge increase on last year's 8 awards is a credit to the generous sponsorship from Syngenta, Burns and Webber, the Guildford Environmental Forum and contributions from Guildford Borough Council.

The Guildford in Bloom Committee have visited all of this year's projects and will be making follow up visits in the months to come to see their progress.  Councillor Jen Powell visited Pond Meadow School Park Barn where the grant will help them create an outdoor classroom concentrating on Science (plant growth, mini-beasts, life cycles), literacy (descriptive and imaginative writing) and numeracy (number and shape).  The money will be used to fence the area and later the school plan to include plants to attract wildlife, a pond, flower beds, vegetables and a sensory garden.
