Easter Monday 21st

Lions Easter Show, Shalford Park

 

A fair for the Easter holiday with a large range of stalls and fun activities for the whole family.

May

Sunday 4th

Blue Peter Bikeathon, Stoke Park

 

This bikeathon is organised by Leukaemia Research Fund and is a popular event for children and families.  Starts 11am.

Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th

Chantry Woods Conservation Weekend

 

Join the Countryside Action Team and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers carrying out bridleway improvements.

Sunday 11th

The Camberley Band, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

This band enjoys entertaining audiences throughout the region with its varied programme to suit all tastes.  Starts 2pm

Sunday 18th

The Basingstoke Silver Band Concert, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

A well known band in Basingstoke and the surrounding district.  Here is a chance to enjoy their variety of music in the centre of  Guildford.  Starts 2pm.

Monday 19th 

to Bank Holiday Monday 26th

Burnett's Fun Fair, Shalford Common

 

This fun fair is a regular visitor to Shalford Common and is a popular event for the family.

Tuesday 20th to Wednesday 21st

School's Nursery Open Day

 

A two hour tour of Guildford Borough Council's nursery with fun activities and entertainment for school children.  Bookings in advance through the Parks Helpdesk.

Wednesday 22nd

Pewley Down Conservation Day

 

Join the Countryside Action Team and Pewley Down Conservation Volunteers  managing this nationally important chalk grassland.

Sunday 25th

The Liss Band, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

An afternoon of brass band music taken from a wide repertoire of classical music, shows, films and popular songs. Starts 2pm.

Bank holiday Monday 26th

Surrey County Show, Stoke Park

 

One of the largest events of the year with something for everyone to enjoy.  Includes stalls, fair and shows.  A very popular event.

Wednesday 28th

Dog Show by the Guildford and District Canine Society, Shalford Park

 

A quality kennel club registered dog show, held annually.

June

Sunday 1st

Friary Guildford Brass Band, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

Formed in 1983, this group of amateur musicians are successful participants of competitions and are enthusiastic entertainers. Starts 2pm.

Sunday 8th

Haslemere Town Band, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

Lively local band.  Starts 2pm.

Sunday 15th

Woking Brass Band, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

This local group of musicians will entertain you as they keep the tradition of brass band music alive.  Starts 2pm.

Friday 20th

Closing date for Guildford in Bloom Competition entries

 

Guildford Borough Council's annual competition to beautify the Borough and  win prizes for gardening displays closes.

Saturday 21st

Elizabethan Event, Castle Grounds

 

An historical re-enactment with opportunities for the public to participate.  There will be fabulous costumes, dancing, music and crafts to enjoy.

Sunday 22nd

Race 4 Life, Shalford Park

 

Fun charity race for women organised by Cancer Research.

Wednesday 25th to Saturday 28th

"The Merry Wives of Windsor", Castle Grounds

 

A not to be missed opportunity to experience open-air theatre performed by the Guildford School of Acting.

Tuesday 24th to Sunday 29th

The Netherlands National Circus, Stoke Park

 

A vibrant show for the family, mixing traditonal circus with modern theatre.

Rotary Donkey Derby and Fair, Shalford Park

 

A fun family day with a wide variety of entertainment and activities.

July

Tuesday 8th to Saturday 12th

"Barefoot in the Park", Castle Grounds

 

Part of the Summer Festival, a delightful evening with the open air theatre with the Pranksters Theatre Company.

Friday 4th to Sunday 6th

The Guilfest Music Festival

 

Very popular large music event with a huge variety of bands and interesting stalls.

Tuesday 8th to Sunday 13th

Hampton Court Flower Show

 

Guildford Borough Council's beautiful and unique garden, 'The Lockkeepers Cottage', will be on display to visitors.  The garden features a section of canal and a real barge and celebrates the traditions of the river and its environment using authentic materials.

Friday 11th

Summer Spectacular Concert, Shalford Park

 

A lively evening of tribute bands featuring 'The Bee Gees' and 'Abba'. Starts at 8pm.

Saturday 12th

Summer Spectacular Concert, Shalford Park

 

Guildford Philharmonic present 'Last Night of the Proms'. Starts at 8pm.

Saturday 19th to Saturday 26th

"The Lady's Not For Burning" by Christopher Fry, Castle Grounds

 

The Herald Players are performing this open-air drama set in 1400s as part of the Summer Festival.

The Ambient Picnic, Shalford Park

 

An outdoor music and environmental festival.

Model Steam Rally and Exhibition, Burchatts Farm, Stoke Park

 

Interesting and entertaining event for enthusiasts and novices alike.

Large local band which plays a variety of music from marches to popular tunes. Starts 2pm.

Cricket Festival, Woodbridge Road

 

Surrey Cricket Club's popular sporting event which is the highlight of the 'cricketing' year.

Cobham Concert Band, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

A brass band concert performing a wide variety of music including tunes from shows and popular pieces.  Starts 2pm.

Sunday 10th

Woodley Concert Band, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

One of the leading community wind bands in Berkshire, performing a variety of music including marches, Broadway hits and big band favourites. Starts 2pm.

Sunday 17th

Grandpa's Spells, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

A concert of popular Dixieland jazz played in authentic styles.  Starts 2pm.

Saturday 18th

Pewley Down Conservation Day

 

Join the Countryside Action Team and Pewley Down Conservation Volunteers managing this nationally important chalk grassland.

Almac Bisley Brass Band, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

A lively and popular concert band who perform regularly throughout the area.  Starts 2pm.

Stoke Fields Conservation Weekend, next to the River Wey

 

Join the CAT and BTCV clearing ditches on this valuable wetland habitat.

September

Charlie Mayne Fun Fair, Stoke Park North

 

Well known, large fun fair and a regular visitor to Guildford.

Sunday 7th

Godalming Band, Bandstand, Castle Grounds

 

This local band has a full and varied programme, playing at concerts and fetes throughout the year.  Starts 2pm.

Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th

Wey Meadows, Shalford, next to the River Wey

 

Join the Countryside Action Team and British Trust for Conservation Volunteers carrying out various wetland habitat management tasks.

 October 

Wednesday 15th

Pewley Down Conservation Day

 

Join the Countryside Action Team and the Pewley Down Conservation Volunteers scrub bashing.

 

November 

Wednesday 5th November

Guildford Fireworks Fiesta, Stoke Park

 

7.45 pm procession leaves the Guildhall, High Street.

8.15 Arrive at Stoke Park.

8.25 Lighting of the Beacon.

8.30 Firework display.
