We have a recycling team of five who develop new recycling initiatives and organise the kerbside collection scheme to homes throughout our borough.

Why should I recycle?
Every year, homes in the our borough produce a huge 870kg of waste.
On average, we recycle about 17% of this waste and the rest is put into landfill sites. This takes up space and produces gases which contribute to global warming. Often waste that is put into landfill sites can be recycled.
Over 60% of the waste in your dustbin can be recycled.
Recycling plays a major part in reducing the amount of rubbish we put in landfill sites. There are many ways of managing our waste more sustainably and recycling a lot of the rubbish you put in your dustbin.
Just remember the 3 Rs - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Reduce
Create less waste. Use your 'buying power' and choose your products with recycling in mind.
Reuse
Buy reusable and refillable products, which can also save you money.
Recycle
Recycle more and throw away less. Look out for the recycling logo on packaging. Recycling is about using the same materials more than once to get the most from them. It's about processing waste to produce a new raw material that can used to make new products.
