Launch of the purple recycling box

With the launch of our new purple recycling box, we are set to double the 220 tonnes of paper we recycle every month. This will save an estimated 8,602 trees!

The purple box is the second recycling box in our kerbside recycling scheme. If we already collect recycled goods in your street, we will deliver your new box to you by the middle of December 2003.

You can continue to use the original green box for food tins, drinks cans, glass bottles and jars. The new purple box is for all types of paper, including newspapers and magazines, card, junk mail, office paper, directories and catalogues.

If your street is on the kerbside collection scheme and you haven’t received your purple box by 19 December 2003, please phone us to let us know. You should also let us know if you don’t have a green box. Both boxes are free and we will deliver them to your home. Call our recycling hotline on 01483 445084 or e-mail [email protected]

Another important change we are making to the kerbside collection scheme is collecting your recycled goods every week rather than every two weeks.

This change will be made from December 2003 to March 2004. We will write to let you know when weekly collections will start in your street. In the meantime, please continue to put your boxes out every two weeks.

Thank you for supporting our recycling initiatives
