We run a successful kerbside collection scheme for over 90% of residents.
A green and purple recycling box is put out on the kerbside on the specified day of collection. We will empty these boxes and take the materials to Slyfield Refuse Transfer Station for recycling.
The original green box is used for food tins, drinks cans, glass bottles and jars.
The new purple box is for all types of paper, including newspapers and magazines, card, junk mail, office paper, directories and catalogues.

Please help your recycling crew to recycle your waste:

It is helpful to the recycling crew if you can separate the different coloured glass into separate bags.

Please place your green and purple box on the kerbside before 7am in the morning of the day of collection.

Please bear in mind that if we can't see your boxes then we can't empty them. Please also take care not to cause any obstruction to pedestrians or vehicles.

For health and safety reasons, please keep your boxes clean.
If you don’t have a box?
If your street is on the kerbside collection scheme but you don’t have a green or purple box then please do let us know and we can arrange a delivery to your home. We can also replace boxes that are damaged or have been stolen.
If you can’t carry your box to the kerbside?
If you are elderly or infirm and cannot manage to get your boxes to the kerbside then don’t worry – we can help. Just call the Recycling Hotline on 445084 and we will arrange a special collection for you.
If you're not yet on the scheme?
We apologise to those residents that are not yet on the kerbside collection scheme. We are doing our best to sort this out as soon as possible.
For people who live in flats, we are working our way around each block of flats in the borough and are introducing a special collection system to make recycling as easy and as flexible as possible. We hope to have covered all flats by the end of 2004.
For people who live in areas that are difficult to get to, for example, along a narrow lane, we have recently invested in a smaller vehicle and are currently trialling it.
