Litter Free Schools

DID YOU KNOW ....

It costs £340,000,000 per year to clean the streets of Britain.

Schools Litter Competition 2003

This years Litter Free Borough Competition was the most successful ever!

The competition was open to all schools, children were asked to create their own 'Litter Bug' from waste materials.   There was no need to collect litter, children just used items that they would normally have thrown away.

The Recycling Department was overwhelmed by the 228 fantastic entries they received!

The winning model was made by Lauren Mooray aged 9 from Worplesdon Primary School who won her school the choice between a PC or drum kit.   The runners up were Gemma Foley, aged 10 from Worplesdon Primary School, Sarah Bell, aged 11 from Weyfield Primary School and Bethany Weekes, aged 10 from Pirbright County Primary School.  All the runners up won digital cameras for their schools. Congratulations!

Keep your eye out for the 2004 competition!
