Whilst Surrey County Council is the Highway Authority for the Borough, Guildford Borough Council undertakes a significant quantity of transport related initiatives including the provision of cycle routes in partnership with SCC.
Both the Borough and County Councils are encouraging cycling as an alternative to the car for short trips, such as journeys to work and school. In order to help encourage all age groups to cycle, a coherent cycle network is being developed linking key areas such as residential, employment and schools.
The Borough Council's cycling strategy provides the framework for cycle route provision in the borough. The strategy is amended annually and describes the routes and other facilities scheduled for implementation in the forthcoming year.
The Cycling Strategy can be viewed over the web or a hard copy is available at a charge of £1.50 to cover the costs of printing.

Produced by Surrey County Council with support from Guildford Borough Council, the map is in a handy leaflet form and illustrates both on and off-road cycle routes and where to find special cycle parking.
