Green and organic waste make up a large proportion of waste produced. We are promoting a number of ways of recycling this waste through kerbside schemes and home composting.
The Nippy Chipper
The Nippy Chipper operates every Wednesday and Thursday chipping and bagging garden waste on your doorstep. The chippings are returned to you to use as mulch or compost.
You can include branches and tree trunks up to 3 inches in diameter. The service costs £11.80. Please call 01483 445084 for a booking form.

Green cones
A green cone enables you to recycle food waste in your back garden. Just lift the lid and add unwanted food. The waste disperses into the ground around the cone. Please call 01483 445084 to buy a green cone, cost £5. For more information on on how the green cone works check out www.greencone.com

Composters |

A composter will turn your garden waste into a rich compost for use in your garden. Ideal ingredients are, leaves, flowers, garden clippings, vegetable peelings, tea bags and eggshells.
The Compost Machine is subsidised by the council and costs £5. To order one call Straight Recycling on 0845 1306090 or check out www.getcomposting.com. The subsidised composter is only available to Guildford Borough residents.
Wormeries
If you would like to compost but do not have a garden a wormery will convert kitchen waste into concentrated liquid plant food and rich compost ideal for window boxes and house plants.
They are Odour free with a sealed lid and can be kept indoors or out. They cost £5 and can be ordered by calling 01884 841515 (while stocks last). |
