Supplementary planning guidance (SPG) is prepared to support and amplify policies in the Local Plan. Such guidance must be consistent with national planning policy guidance and the Local Plan. It may be taken into account as material consideration in relation to planning applications and in order to increase the weight accorded to it, it is prepared in consultation with the public and is the subject of a Council resolution. Development briefs set out the parameters for the development as well as the planning policy background to the site and the consideration of appropriate uses. Development briefs highlight the constraints affecting the site and the objectives to be achieved by any development. Principles for development of the site are outlined which should form the basis for any detailed proposals. To view the list of adopted SPG's and Development Briefs, go to Publications.
