Supplementary Planning Guidance

Supplementary planning guidance (SPG) is prepared to support and amplify policies in the Local Plan. Such guidance must be consistent with national planning policy guidance and the Local Plan. It may be taken into account as material consideration in relation to planning applications and in order to increase the weight accorded to it, it is prepared in consultation with the public and is the subject of a Council resolution. Development briefs set out the parameters for the development as well as the planning policy background to the site and the consideration of appropriate uses. Development briefs highlight the constraints affecting the site and the objectives to be achieved by any development. Principles for development of the site are outlined which should form the basis for any detailed proposals. To view the list of adopted SPG's and Development Briefs, go to Publications.

Draft supplementary planning guidance: telecommunications

The draft SPG on Telecommunications sets out the Council's requirements on all matters relating to telecommunications development in the Borough. This guidance will replace the Satellite and Telecommunications Equipment SPG approved in October 1994.  The consultation period ended on 3 November 2003.  We are currently considering all comments received and will be submitting these comments and any amendments to the draft to Policy Panel (Environment & Transport) for adoption.
