Planning Policy
Introduction
One of the major responsibilities of the Planning Policy team is the preparation and review of the Guildford Borough Local Plan, which includes policies and proposals to guide development across the district currently up to 2006. Click here to view our 2003 local plan.

Policy advice, statistical and economic data and other information is also provided to other authorities in Surrey as well as Surrey County Council and the general public.  Assistance is also regularly to Development Control to assist them in their assessment of planning applications and in preparing evidence for appeals.

The Planning Policy Team produces a variety of monitoring documents covering a wide range of topics, including housing, employment and population. These are listed under Planning Documents and are available from planning reception to view or purchase.

Further information can be found in the Planning Documents alternatively, there are a number of websites that also produce information on Guildford Borough - go to further information.

The Planning Portal

The Planning Inspectorate and a number of other parties have developed the Planning Portal to provide access to information that is required by anyone involved in the planning process. The Planning Inspectorate works for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) and the National Assembly of Wales (NAW).

Guildford now has a presence on the Planning Portal. The Local Plan (text only) is live on the web site. Visit www.planningportal.gov.uk.
