Draft Development Brief Manor Park
The consultation for the draft development brief finished on 5 September 2003. Comments received are being considered at the Policy Panel (Environment & Transport) 27 October 2003.
Manor Park is identified in the Local Plan for expansion of the University for academic / research facilities and student and staff accommodation. In December 2002 the University produced a brief; this has now been amended by the Borough Council.
The need for the University to expand was supported by a Government Inspector following a public inquiry in 2000. The brief identifies where on the site development should go, the design and size of buildings, traffic management measures and the environmental safeguards required including energy conservation measures and protection of the natural environment such as hedgerows and woodland
The proposal will allow the University to provide up to 150,000 square metres of floor space for academic and research activity and accommodation for up to 4,000 students. Extensive recreational facilities including playing fields are also proposed. The campus will be largely car free.
The draft brief is now available for public inspection at the following locations:
§ Planning Reception, Guildford Borough Council Offices, Millmead, Guildford
§ Guildford Library, North Street, Guildford
