HERITAGE OPEN DAYS CELEBRATE 10 YEARS
On 13 and 14 September, thousands of people took the opportunity to discover some of Guildford’s hidden heritage, both ancient and relatively modern. This year was the tenth year that Guildford has participated in the scheme, which is promoted nationally by the Civic Trust and locally organised by the Guildford Society, the Borough Council and the Guildford Tour Guides.
Among the attractions were the Royal Grammar School, Guildhall and Abbot’s Hospital and many less well known architectural treasurers such as the County Club, Salters Gallery, Olivio and Olivetto restaurants, Braboeuf Manor and Henley Fort. A fascinating exhibition of locally collected architectural artefacts was also a busy attraction in the Brew House, courtesy of expert, Charles Brooking.
