Adopted sewers

Thames Water is the drainage authority responsible for the construction and maintenance of all adopted foul and surface water sewers within Guildford Borough.

The general rule is that the drains running from your property to the main foul and surface water sewer is the responsibility of the home owner (or GBC if it is a council property). The main foul and surface water pipe running under the road is the responsibility of the drainage authority which is Thames Water for Guildford. Foul water is waste from sinks, baths, W.C’s etc and surface water would be run off from roofs, roads etc.
