Adopted Roads - SCC

Surrey County Council is the highway authority responsible for the construction and maintenance of all publicly maintained roads (otherwise known as adopted) within Guildford Borough, with the exception of motorways and certain trunk roads for which the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions  (DETR) is responsible through it’s appointed contractor and consultants the Highway Agency.

Unless your road is owned by Guildford Borough Council (click here to see which are owned by GBC), please send any queries, enquiries or complaints that you may have with regards to the conditions of highways, roads, road signs, traffic management etc to Surrey County Council. As a general rule the highway boundary generally extends from the centre of the road to the nearest wall, fence or obstruction.
