Q: What is the Guildford Shuttle?
A: Since September 2000, Guildford Borough Council has been running a free shuttle bus service around the town centre.
The free bus service follows a set route around the town centre, stopping at convenient points, close to car parks and visiting both the bus and train stations. The comfortable buses also have easy-access low floors. Customers should look out for the distinctive circular shuttle bus logo.
The service runs every 20 minutes from Monday to Saturday, with the First bus departing from Guildford Train Station at 8.55am (8.35am on Saturday). The last bus leaves the rail station at 4:35pm Mon- Fri (4:55pm on Saturday).
The service is operated by Safeguard Coaches on behalf of Guildford Borough Council. For more information visit the 'buses' page in this section.
Q: Which Park and Ride service should I use?
A: If approaching Guildford from the South from areas such as Godalming or Horsham, there is a Park and Ride site on the A3100 Old Portsmouth Road at Artington.
From the North or East (e.g Woking, London, Leatherhead) the most convenient facility is probably the Spectrum car park (Mon-Fri) or Ladymead behind Cornhill (Saturdays only). These locations are signposted from Ladymead/Parkway.
From the West (e.g Aldershot, Ash, Farnham) Guildford Park Road (Mon-Sat) or the University (Saturdays only) are the easiest sites to get to, accessible from the A3 or A31 Farnham Rd.
See Park & Ride page for details of all of these sites.
Q: Does Park and Ride operate on a Sunday or on Bank Holidays?
A: No, there are no services on Sundays or Bank Holidays. There is however a regular commercial bus service that runs between Guildford Spectrum and the University via the Town centre on a Sunday timetable.
Q: Is there any information available on cycle routes/facilities around the Borough?
A: Guildford Borough Council and Surrey County Council produce two free cycle leaflets which provide general information on cycling and maps of cycle routes around the Guildford and Surrey area. These are the “Cycle Guildford” and “Surrey Cycleway” leaflets which are also available from Libraries around the Borough. Click here to order a leaflet, leaving the address you wish it to be sent to.
