GRANTS TO VOLUNTARY CARING ORGANISATIONS

Surrey County Council, Guildford Borough Council and Guildford and Waverley Primary Care Trust, act in partnership to assess applications for grant aid from local Voluntary Caring Organisations.

Set out below is the criteria for applying for a grant:

Ø      Promoting Independence:  to develop and support effective local alternatives to residential, hospital and other institutional care

Ø      Promoting Social Inclusion:  developing education, training, employment, leisure and housing opportunities for the disadvantaged and vulnerable in our society

Ø      Protecting Vulnerable People

Ø      Making Communities Safer

Ø      Supporting Carers in the Community

Ø      Facilitating and Promoting Better Health in the local community

Ø      Providing and promoting opportunities for young people in our society

Ø      The Panel will consider applications with an element of ‘core’ funding

Ø      Any scheme failing to spend funding as agreed will be expected to return the unspent balance at year-end, unless the panel agrees otherwise
