The Environmental Health Division provides food safety inspection and training services, work place safety inspection and advice services and noise pollution control including the following services:

- a night time standby service
- pest control services to homes and businesses
- dog warden service
- gypsy site management

The Division is committed to Best Value and was one of six Best Value pilot services. Best Value stems from a Government requirement that local authorities appraise their services and demonstrate value and the effective delivery of high standards of service, required by the community. Current action includes:

- in house Best Value pilot project
- participation with nine local authorities across England to bench mark services
- commision a telephone survey of users of the service
